ABOUT THE DISCUSSION LISTSERV:

This new Cascadia Grains Discussion Listserv (long overdue!) was created by the WSU Food Systems Team to keep the Northwest regional grains community connected during COVID-19 resilience efforts and beyond. Seeing grains and beans fly off the shelves at grocery stores nation-wide due to the pandemic sheds a new light on the importance of regional staple food crop economies.

You can use this discussion list to connect to a large stakeholder audience across the Northwest region, with a focus on small-scale, domestic markets, cultural relevance, and environmentally sound practices.

  • Post an immediate need

  • Ask a question

  • Post resources (relief funding opportunities, upcoming webinars, initiatives etc.)

  • Share direct sales online marketing platforms that support small-scale, regional, environmentally sound farmers.

To post, send an email to: cascadiagrains@lists.cahnrs.wsu.edu.

As demonstrated from our Cascadia Grains Working Group Session 2020, the top six values of Cascadia Grains (in no particular order) include:

1. Cultural Relevance
2. Environmentally Sound Practices
3. Domestic Local and Regional Markets
4. Health and Nutrition 5. Equitable Access
6. Taste and Flavor

We hope that you consider and center these values when posting.
